The holiday season is here and Christmas is right around the corner. There are many things about this season that are wonderful, but there are some things the are stressful as well. Just today I ventured into town to do some last minute Christmas shopping. In spite of the cheery decorations and ‘Christmas spirit’ around every corner, the overwhelming feeling was far from calm. There was Christmas music playing, and songs like ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’ serve as reminders as what the season is really about.
Sometimes we become so caught up in the commercialism of the season that we forget what Christmas was about. We also forget that while our own Christmases may be filled with sparkly trees, bright lights, family gathered around a full table, and mounds of presents under the tree, there are individuals, families, and especially children who aren’t able to enjoy a warm, peaceful, and bountiful holiday. Keep these folks in mind when celebrating your own Christmas or other holiday this season. Remember that this beautiful song is appropriately called ‘O Come ALL Ye Faithful’, not ‘Come All Ye With Lots Of Money’. Additionally, remember that ‘faithful’ doesn’t have to include only your faith; that you can love and respect all of your fellow man during this holiday season.
Whether or not you love Christmas music, this unique duet is a must listen. The legendary Elvis blends surprisingly perfectly with one of the greatest voices of recent years, the incomparable Susan Boyle. A mash up of a legendary American rock and roller and a winner of a British reality talent show may not seem as if they would work, but the combination is quite beautiful. Enjoy this amazing videos and Happy Holidays to you and your family.
